One of the things that I love about my job is hunting for inspiration. I love finding vintage clothing a patterns and turning them into something that works for today.
I don't know if these women ever had children.
I have so I like it when things are fitted just above my tummy and then use a little gathering to hide.
I love the seam down the center and the tie at the neck.
The little bow if this neckline will find its way into the spring line.
I am in awe of all I can do on line. I still remember when I worked for Ralph Lauren we would have to go to the library to hunt for inspiration images.
I love the 1950s designs in the top two images - gorgeous. And, yes, these are clearly Barbie-waisted illustrations. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove those patterns, can't wait to see what you come up with!

Funny, I have such wonderfully vivid memories of looking at patterns and still to this day, I never read the instructions on a pattern, I just am all visual - so the cover really sold me on the front of a pattern.
ReplyDeleteI worked for Ralph, and we used to order images from Bettman Archives, Kathering Hepburn for her trousers and Grace Kelly for her skirts...and Audrey was all about tops!
Nice inspiration - down memory lane.
Have a good evening dear lady.

ReplyDeleteI adore these old patterns. my mom was a sewer and made all of our clothes - oh, you should have seen the halloween costumes! - I won every contest all thru school. She is also a saver of things...! so I am sure she has a huge stash of old patterns like these...
ReplyDeletefun!
my husband's grandma has a whole suitcase full of vintage patterns, and i've always thought it would be so fun to use them, but modernize the style a little bit. unfortunately, i'm kind of lazy when it comes to sewing!
ReplyDeletelove these!
