Memorial Day

I am very thankful to the men and women who gave their lives for our country.

This is a photo of my father a Marine who served in World War II and Korea.

He was awarded the silver star medal for gallantry in action.
Thank you to all the men and women who have served or are serving.

happy birthday

Seventeen years ago I gave birth to a baby boy. In some ways it feels like a life time ago in other ways it seems like yesterday.

Now my baby is 6'3" tall.

Every year seems to fly by faster than the last.  Happy Birthday Reagan.

the perfect home

I am in love with this play house from birdie blue.  I could move right in.  How perfect are the tiny stones in the walkway.

what's for dinner?

I am having a bit cooking slump this summer.  I am looking for easy, healthy and yummy.  Please let me know if you have any great cook books, cooking blogs etc.

nashville only

Abbe Saunders is having another "Yours mine and ours sale" on Friday and Saturday from 8 till 3:00.  I was there today and she has some beautiful antiques and good prices.  If you are looking for anything you won't want to miss this sale.  Her address is 4329 Estes Road, Nashville 37215.  If you can't make this one but want to be on her email list you can contact her at abbej@bellsouth.net.

After a yummy dinner I heard squeals of delight as the kids tried to catch summer's first fireflies.  It doesn't get any better than that.

Lesley Evers

It is always hard to decide which of Lesley's designs are my favorite.  (FYI Scott I would take any of the above for my next birthday)  The good news is now through June 15 th her whole line is 20% off, so stock up.  She has also started blogging and I am already hooked.

perfect party house

After a very hard day it was a treat to see that Sara's home was on Design Sponge.  Sara is the talented creative behind Party Perfect Blog and Hicks Paper Goods.  I know that I just wrote about her home but these are some new pics.  Check out Design Sponge to see and read more.

the E myth

If you have a small businesses I highly recommend this book.

time flies

Sorry for the lack of posts.  This has been a very crazy week.  My Sophie graduated from 6th grade.  And the end of the year chaos has invaded our home.  Last years books, next years books and a million art projects.  I am hoping to bring all of the uniforms up into the attic in exchange for swim suits and flip flops.  The sun is shining and Scott is about to return with a whole wheat everything bagel and coffee.  Wish me luck.  I am looking forward to this Saturday of restoring order.

I thought you might enjoy these shots of us from Child Magazine.  They were taken 5 years ago!  Time flies.

I love collections and how they look together.  It's the more the merrier philosophy.  (Perhaps that is why I have 7 kids!)  I have been collecting things since I was a little girl.  I love this blog a collection a day,  I have a feeling she has been collecting for a while too.

vintage patterns

Meet the newest additions to my vintage pattern collections.  I picked these up at Gen's on Saturday and they all have an element that I want to incorporate into next season's collection.

art love

Last night I discovered a beautiful blog called A Country Farmhouse. I am in love with her beautiful white home with the perfect color green door.
As I spent all evening scrolling through years of her life I came upon this...

and my heart started beating faster. I was smitten with this little jewel of a painting. I was very excited to find out that it by a current artist Eric Jacobsen.  He is now on my list of favorites.  Here are some of the ones that I would like to bring home...

do I need therapy?

I am obsessed with these Fisher Price reissued vintage toys.  I have seen them at Target and online.  My children are a little old to play with them but I am tempted anyway.  Is there something severely wrong with me?

tec petaja

I am in love with tec's photography. Here are some of my favorite black and whites..

and here are some of my favorites in color...

So the moral of the story is go to tag sales...you never know who you'll meet.
