irish soda bread

I love to make home made breads from freshly ground flour. This is a super quick recipe from Beth Holland via the Bread Beckers Recipe Collection.


I love it for breakfast with butter and jam or paired with home made soup for dinner.

It doesen't keep very well but there isn't usually much left over.


IRISH SODA BREAD

3 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 Tbs honey
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Mix well and knead slightly. Shape into a round about 1 1/2" thick. Slash X across the top. Bake on greased cookie sheet or parchment at 375 until done (about 45 minutes)

great book


I just finished this great book by Michael Pollan.  (by great I mean that it confirms everything that I already believe)

purely addictive

Like many I am in love with Pure Barre,a workout the fuses elements of ballet, pilates and weights. No matter how tired I am when I walk into one of the classes I always leave feeling great and with energy to spare.  I love how it works every muscle in my body.  I love that I don't feel like anyone is watching the fact that i still can't get my knee off the rug.  I love that some of the girls bounce in in there expensive work out gear and I drag myself in in my navy target pants and old navy t shirt.  I love that some are younger than me and some are older.

warning:  It is hard to move the day after your first class.  It is addictive.  It is expensive (after you do the $100 for one month unlimited).
