favorite reads

While away I got to do lots of reading. These three were my favorites.

far away

This morning we hopped on a flight to see my parents on the way to the Bahamas for spring break.
We will be with out computers and cell phones for a week. I am so excited. Here are a few pics of my mothers beautiful table. My brother and his beautiful family were able to join us for dinner.

And I can't blog for long because I can't wait to fall asleep in the most beautiful guest room.
I am realizing that I should have taken more pictures for you.

Out of Africa

I remember loving Out of Africa when it came out years ago but had forgotten most of the story. We rented it the other night and I was not disappointed.
The Sydney Pollack film starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford is a feast for the eyes.
It is going on my list of all time favorites.

race to nowhere

I went to a screening of race to nowhere this week. It was not as in depth as I would have liked but I do think that it is a great discussion starter. I have always been a big believer in lots of free time for our children. (Or perhaps I am just lazy.) I have also experienced the frustrations of having a child at a school that was not a good fit.

I have learned that there are usually more options than we might first see. Life and childhood are far to precious to needlessly suffer through.

I also read this book earlier this year. It has a lot of great things to say. I would highly recommend it for anyone with school aged children.

denim

I am in the mood for some new denim. Something fresh even though we are not in full on spring mode. (The above is a little email blast that we put together today.)

I have spotted some daffodils along the road. We have some in our yard but they are in the shade and always seem to be the latest bloomers in Nashville. To me this means that spring is here!
