At the age of 10 our family moved from Miami to Long Island. I loved it. Even now as much as I love Nashville and don't want to move, when I find myself up North I feel at home.
Growing up a girl named Cornelia Guest would give me some of her hand me down clothes because she was a couple years older than I was. I can still remember a camel cashmere sweater that I loved.
Well zoom ahead 35 years and Cornelia is selling her home.
The home, Templeton, that also belonged to her mother C.Z. Guest.
I am not too old for hand-me-downs.
I totally understand if she doesn't want to give me the whole house.
I would be happy with some of the lettuce leaf porcelain.

I received hand-me-downs from my cousins. You received them from Cornelia Guest. Wow, that's pretty darn cool (I actually had her tongue-in-cheek book "How to be a Debutante when I was a kid.) And, of course, C.Z. could do no wrong when it came to style and grace. That house is amazing.
What fabulous hand me downs. The house is gorgeous!

I would definitely accept those hand-me-downs! How cool is that?
I am pretty sure I didn't receive any fantastic hand me downs. You were a lucky girl for sure. I love the enormous tiger rug.

I would take those hand me downs in a second! Wow....
Guessing you spent at least part of your childhood in Old Westbury. I know a woman who grew up not too far from there as well...why do I feel its just a matter of time before we actually meet?! :)
WoW! What a fantastic story!!
Yes, I would take those hand me downs in a second!!
Too funny! But the house is truly beautiful. I saw this posted over at Heather's and just loved it. So sad that she has to give it up but it must be a burden to keep up - both financially and time-wise. Wishing you a lovely holiday.
What a great story!
Best,
Colleen
