packaging

I have always been a sucker for great packaging, especially when it comes to makeup. I am in love with the Lucite look of the lip gloss packaging. Has anyone seen this in real life? This might be what the Easter Bunny gets me.

A great day...

My daughter asked me why we always do spring cleaning in the winter.  Today was the day to deep clean our kitchen/family room.  I love a check list.

carpet cleaning machine rented
carpet cleaned
kitchen drawers emptied, vacuumed, cleaned and contents weeded through and put back in Martha style
butcher block rubbed with tung oil
slipcovers washed

in love...

It all started when my daughter swiped my running shoes as she headed off to sleep away camp.  I found myself in a shopping mall to buy a new pair.  Next to the sports store was a sally beauty supply store.  I have always been curious as to what these stores have to offer and decided to run in.  My ballerina goes through hair nets and pins like I go through chocolate so I picked up a hand full of both.  I also grabbed some wax,  nail files and hair brushes.  (With 5 daughters and a lab that likes to chew, we go through a lot of hair brushes)  As I was checking out I grabbed the above mini lip gloss.  I am in love with it.  I ran back in this morning to buy 10 more.  They have no smell, are very moisturizing and long lasting (for a gloss).  At less that .99 cents each I am sending one to each girl in Sophie's cabin....to thank her for swiping my shoes.

I have been a fan of Aquaphor for a long time. So when they came out with these mini size ones I was thrilled. My friend and product guru (Karee) says it is the best eye cream for night. I also mix a little with my hand cream and rub it into my hands before bed. It also works as a lip gloss when all of my other ones have been pilfered by my daughters. At $2.50 a tube aquaphor is a great deal.

Reed Krakoff (the President and Executive Creative Director of Coach) and I worked together many years ago at Ralph Lauren so I always love to see what wonderful things he is creating. Here are some of my favorites.

love...lavender

I went to an adorable store in Nashville called the green wagon. I got a great product called "Eco Diva earth angel after bath body oil"...just what my dry legs needed. I was unable to find the product on line but if you live in Nashville it's worth the trip. The store also happens to be next to my favorite restaurant Cafe Nona. The scent of my new oil reminded me of my favorite soap Dr. Bronner's Liquid Soap Lavender Castile Soap. Use it in the shower or bath. At $5.09 for 16oz it is a great bargain.

more makeup

Above is some of the Sonia Kashuk makeup that my two big girls found in their stocking. (Even Santa shops at Target.) I love her colors and her packaging. I had lots of fun practicing the smokey eye on the girls. The kit comes with everything including step by step illustrations. Last night before heading out to a dinner party I decided to try it on myself. Let's just say that some things are better saved for youth.

makeup

Please excuse my dearth of blogging lately. I have had a wonderful and relaxing time at home attempting to clean out closets etc. This Christmas was especially fun because I got to buy for little girls and big girls. My older girls are 11 and 13 and are in the clothing and makeup stage. I can still remember the Christmas when I got an Estee Lauder make up kit that I loved. I bought them each one of these books from Bobbi Brown. It is a fun read and I learned a few new tips.

addictions...

Every 2 years I splurge on new make up from Trish McEvoy. Lip gloss is another story. I frequently love to try out new lip glosses (usually from wallgreens). I always choose basically the same color (a natural sheer pink) and here are some of my favorites.
