lilly pulitzer

A very special person celebrates her 80 th birthday today.
As a little girl I remember hiding in the racks of clothing at her warehouse.
As a teenager I worked in her store on Long Island.
As a twenty something I got married and Lilly had my rehearsal dinner at her house. (That day her house was being photographed for a book called Tropical Style:Private Palm Beach. How fun are the table decor that she did?)
I admire Aunt Lilly for so many reasons but if I could only have one of her gifts it would be her ability to make people feel so loved and welcomed in her home.

what what what?! That is so cool that LP is your aunt. I remember my great aunt wearing LOTS of Lilly. I would give anything to have just half of the Lilly dresses she owned. How special!

Kayce! I have waited so long for you to share about your "Aunt Lilly"! I have always hoped you would do a post and tell us a little more about the realtionship you had with her! How amazing she hosted your wedding event!!!! Clearly your family is blessed with very talented genes! I would LOVE to see more family photographs (if you decide to share with us!!!) I am heading to FL on Saturday for her birthday event. Are you attending?

As a teen I was very friendly with Liza, Minnie and Peter, and spent my Christmas vacation at their house in PB, I was from NY. Lilly gave us the run of the place and we had a great time. She was so welcoming and often in Miami with her 2nd husband. She threw such fun parties. I continued my friendship with Liza and Minnie through their Foxcroft years but then lost touch as we all went our separate ways. How is everyone doing now? Peter and I had huge crushes on each other! Happy Birthday Lilly. please give everyone my best....Franny Barken

How blessed you were to be around someone so creative, and sounds like you took hold of that yourself. I loved being around my aunt when she wore her "happy" Lilly clothes. I like to surround myself with happy colors in my home.
