vintage Christmas photo shoot
My very talented friend Melodie styled her Christmas card this year and it was too great not to share with you. You can see more of the photos by Brooke Morgan at Melodie's blog pink cupcake vintage.

paint it
Do you ever feel like you might go nuts if you don't make something with your hands? I found these on pinterest today and I wish I could pick one up right now. I am not sure that I am steady enough to do my walls but some forgiving wrapping paper might be in my near future. You can check out some more patterns at the painted house.
How about you... Have you made anything lately?

mod podge
I am in love with these DIY ornaments by Maryland Pink and Green.
Glitter is one of my favorite things. Below I have decorated our KAYCE HUGHES gift boxes with some glitter.
Are you using some glitter this year? I have a gallon of Elmers glue but have never tried Mod Podge. What do you think...is Mod Podge better?

Noel
One of my favorite things to do is to search Goodwill for vintage Christmas decorations. One of my favorite combinations is felt and hand sewn sequins. I love the combination of cozy and sparkly. This is a hanging pocket thing that I found for less than a dollar.

I think that it would be great inspiration for a garland or small ornaments with someones initials for the tree or a gift.

Christmas at our house
Here is another part of our kitchen/family room. The Santas were a gift from my mother years ago and the bear was an early gift from her this year.
The greenery above the picture was made with clippings from our tree combined with a bow and berries on wire from Good Will.
I love adding little touches like an ornament on our dog sign. These are two of my favorite bottle brush trees.

Christmas at our house
I have loved seeing other bloggers post pictures of how they are decorating for the Holidays and thought that I would share some photos of our house.
This is part of our kitchen/family room.
I love using some of the decor that my children make at school. They add something that even the most perfect vintage decor can't touch.

PS As I shot these my husband said that "people might think that our house is always this clean and organized". Please know that I shoot the pretty stuff and step over the mess!

More to come...
After I pick up some of the mess..

Christmas decorating
I was so excited when I was contacted about choosing something from the fun website called treetopia. I love collecting Christmas things that uniquely go in different rooms of our home. Our office is fun and girlie and one year I hope to have a colorful Christmas tree from tree topia.
It was hard to choose between their Christmas wreaths and garlands but I decided on this pink one for our office mantle. Here it is making things merry and bright...

What do you think? Do you like pink for Christmas?

angel sing
I love these vintage angels from Etsy.

Hark the herald angels sing

Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Goodwill for me
Yesterday late in the afternoon I headed to one of my favorite thrift stores, the goodwill outlet. It is not for the faint of heart. It is a step down from your average goodwill but everything is sold by weight and is at least half of what it is at a regular good will.
I picked through loads of boxes to find as many old ornaments as I could find. Could you ever have too many? My daughter grabbed most of the blues and reds to go with her union jack vibe room.
I was thrilled with my leftovers.

a little more Christmas
I am not very good at keeping them alive but at 99 cents each I couldn't help leaving home depot with out 6 poinsettias.
I love my faux holly garland that I have had for years.
This is what NOEL looks like with 7 children. (The "E" is in the large to be glued pile)
I have never meet a bottle brush tree that I didn't like. I am going to be adding some to the store in the next few days.
With decorations finished I can concentrate on a few goodies for my little ones. If only their lists didn't keep changing.

It's begining
We always get our trees and decorate the day after thanksgiving.
I love getting all of the goodies down from the attic. Little touches here and there.
Most of my ornaments are from my favorite thrift stores.
I have a thing for tinsel trees.
Some of my favorite were made by my very talented children. These were made by my 17,15,13 and 11 years olds when they were respectively in Miss Donna's 4 year old class.
All photos by me.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend. We have two friends staying with us. One I haven't seen for 16 years. It should be fun.

night owl paper goods
I always have a soft spot for paper goods but something about this time of year puts it into overdrive. In the case of this company wood goods would be more accurate. I am dreaming of sitting by a roaring fire in my lake house (not owned yet) wrapping up handmade goodies and putting these cards with them.

And these would be perfect stocking suffers for all of my children and many grandchildren that will be staying with us on the lake.

OK back to reality...lots to do.
