blue and white
I am obsessed with all things blue and white lately. Perhaps it is the new store that is mostly blue and white and pink. Perhaps it is the hope that Spring and blue skies are coming soon. What ever the reason I can't seem to get enough.
I found theses goodies on sale at our West Elm. I got the cups to hold our shiny red pencils at the store and the bowls for candy.
This fun Mara Mi paper table cloth is available at Target stores but not on line. My friend Gen had the paper napkins at her house and she nicely parted with one that is going on my inspiration board. I am tempted to run out and find this table cloth...just can't figure out what to make with it.
And of course Oscar de la Renta has some fabulous blue and white in his new home collection...
I know that pantone is loving green this year but at the moment I am feeling blue. I hope that your week is off to a great start!

christmas wrapping paper by ella doran
We are busy wrapping things up over here at the Hughes house. Our oldest is home from NY and I am looking forward to some down time over the next week.
Here is my plan..... stay in my PJ's till after noon...eat lots of peppermint ice-cream before the stores stop stocking candy canes...stay up way too late and watch movies with my older kids...get out the messy paints with my younger kids...get all of the laundry done (for at least a few minutes), make some yummy dinners and brunches that keep us at the table long after the eating is done, drink hot coco next to a roaring fire, knit the stockings for next Christmas, read, sleep, laugh and enjoy the people that make my life full.
I hope that all of you have a wonderful holiday.

paint it
Do you ever feel like you might go nuts if you don't make something with your hands? I found these on pinterest today and I wish I could pick one up right now. I am not sure that I am steady enough to do my walls but some forgiving wrapping paper might be in my near future. You can check out some more patterns at the painted house.
How about you... Have you made anything lately?

valentine garland DIY
I love working on projects for the store window in Chattanooga. For Valentines Day I decided to make 3 long garlands out of pages of an old book. I painted hearts out of left over ceilling paint from our office.
I used the first one as a template, copying the evenly spaced holes with a pencil.

I am really happy with how it turned out if I do say so myself.

night owl paper goods
I always have a soft spot for paper goods but something about this time of year puts it into overdrive. In the case of this company wood goods would be more accurate. I am dreaming of sitting by a roaring fire in my lake house (not owned yet) wrapping up handmade goodies and putting these cards with them.

And these would be perfect stocking suffers for all of my children and many grandchildren that will be staying with us on the lake.

OK back to reality...lots to do.
