I had the pleasure of seeing Frederick Wiseman's La Danse this weekend at the Belcourt. As the mother of an aspiring ballerina and someone who loves to watch ballet it is a must see. I know that some felt it was a little long (my husband among them) but I was wanting more. It is playing through Wednesday so grab a friend and enjoy some wine or Yazoo beer while you watch the film.1.24.2010

OK, so the husband DID think it was a bit long, but it was amazing and as the father of the same aspiring ballerina, enjoyed hearing from Paul Vasterling (head of Nashville Ballet who introduced the film) and was amazed at some of choreography. I would caution taking young children, there is one dance in particular that is a bit gruesome.
